Overview

As a Shift Leader you will be the key person in the store, coordinating the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community. You will open/close the store, manage duty cover, support the Store Manager with seasonal and community events, and ensure the store is clean, stocked and well presented. You will also act as the go‑to person for colleagues in the Store Manager’s absence.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the team to deliver excellent customer service and a seamless shopping experience.
  • Open and close the store, complete duty cover and ensure all decisions uphold customer, colleague and safety standards.
  • Manage queues and shelf replenishment, ensuring point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect current stock.
  • Resolve customer queries, prevent overcharges and take immediate action to correct any issues.
  • Co‑ordinate breaks and shifts, ensuring the store is staffed appropriately and cover is secured for absences.
  • Act as a keyholder, attend alarm call‑outs and maintain security of the store.
  • Communicate daily priorities, provide updates and keep the team informed of any changes.
  • Support the Store Manager with absence management, return‑to‑work interviews and internal communication.
  • Identify and address obstacles to service delivery, celebrating achievements and encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Build relationships with the Area Manager and People Partner, escalating relevant issues in a timely manner.
