Customer Services Operative - Portbury

Location: Portbury, Bristol

Salary: £25,675 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

About the Role

We're seeking a motivated and professional Customer Services Operative to join a busy automotive logistics depot in Portbury. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring all regional customer enquiries and requests are handled efficiently, accurately, and to a high standard — whether over the phone, via email, or through internal systems. This role would suit someone with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer requests and queries via phone, email, or helpdesk system.
  • Liaise with internal teams to coordinate delivery of customer requirements and priorities.
  • Manage and track achievement of customer commitments, including fleet and scheduled deliveries.
  • Keep internal systems up to date with changes in customer requests, promised dates, and reference details.
  • Manage delivery confirmations and ensure all movements are completed within agreed lead times.
  • Raise and manage manual jobs on the system, assign drivers, monitor progress, and communicate updates to customers.
  • Monitor vehicle stock within reception areas, ensuring customer requirements are met and any issues are reported.
  • Review daily reports on late vehicles, confirm transport‑related delays, and provide updates or dispute details where necessary.
  • Provide regional coverage and support during team absences.
  • Undertake other administrative or operational duties as required.
About You
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade A‑C, including English and Maths.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience dealing with customers and suppliers in a professional environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • A confident and polite telephone manner.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience within a customer service or motor trade industry would be preferable but not essential.
