Position Overview

SEND in West Sussex is recruiting an Assistant Benefits Advisor to provide one‑to‑one advice sessions on Carer’s Allowance, Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independence Payment (PIP). The role includes support with claim checking of draft applications, delivery of information resources on benefits and other financial support, and participation in training workshops on DLA, PIP and Universal Credit.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Benefits Advisor with delivery of information, advice and guidance on Carer’s Allowance, DLA and PIP to parent‑carers of children and young people with SEND in West Sussex.
  • Provide 1‑to‑1 advice sessions on benefits and support claim checking of draft applications.
  • Deliver information resources on benefits and other financial support sources.
  • Participate in training workshops on DLA, PIP, and Universal Credit.
  • Assist with documentation and record‑keeping as required.

Salary and Working Hours

£24,000 per annum for full‑time staff (rising to £27,000 per annum after one year and completion of training). The role is 17½–21 hours per week with 6.6 weeks holiday.

Working Location and Remote Work

Remote working with occasional travel for events and meetings in West Sussex.
