Customer Operations Advisor

Role: Customer Operations Advisor

Pay Rate: £13.06 per hour (£27,164.80 per annum equivalent). Overtime: Rare but possible. Overtime rates: 1.5x (Mon-Sat), 2x (Sunday).

Contract Type: Temporary - 3 months (Possibility of extension or temp-to-perm)

Location: Witton, Birmingham

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday - 8:00am - 4:30pm (30-minute lunch - 40 hours per week)

The Role

As a Customer Operations Advisor, you will support the on‑site stores operation within a heavy automotive / manufacturing environment, ensuring engineers have timely access to parts and materials while maintaining accurate stock control and system records. This is a customer‑facing role requiring strong communication, organisation, and basic IT skills.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receive goods, complete required documentation, and allocate stock accordingly
  • Support a self‑service store model using RFID‑tagged stock
  • Tag and store items to support engineer self‑service access
  • Expedite orders by liaising directly with suppliers and confirming lead times
  • Update on‑site computer systems for goods receipting and order tracking
  • Replenish two vending machines with stock as required
  • Assist engineers in locating parts and materials
  • Carry out stock checks and stock takes
  • Maintain general housekeeping standards within the stores area
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures on site
Essential Skills / Experience

Basic computer literacy:

  • Professional e‑mail correspondence
  • Data entry using MS Excel and on‑site systems
  • Ability to update system information accurately
  • Good time‑keeping and organisational skills

Excellent communication skills for:

  • Customer‑facing interactions
  • Supplier liaison
  • Comfortable working in a male‑dominated, heavy automotive / industrial environment

Stores or warehouse experience advantageous but not essential (training provided)

Working Environment

Automotive / manufacturing site. Meets all H&S requirements but is not a clean office environment. Candidates must be comfortable working around automotive components and industrial equipment.

Additional Information

Safety boots can be provided (all sizes available), or candidates may bring their own.
