Availability Window - Days and times vary by week, with scheduled shifts communicated in advance. The availability shown reflects expected windows; contracted hours will be scheduled within these times with three weeks' notice. We support flexibility if your available times do not exactly match the advertised windows.

Pay - Our Customer Delivery Driver rate starts from £13.35 per hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.

We offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week. If you prefer to work fewer hours (minimum 12), there are opportunities available and we would still love to hear from you.

Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco on the road, you will meet and talk to customers in their homes. This role is about more than driving: it is about delivering great service with a smile.

The role is hands-on, physical and varied. No two shifts are the same. You will often feel like your own boss while delivering to customers, with a team of Managers and colleagues at base to support you when needed.

You will be responsible for

Delivering your part of the customer shopping trip by:

  • Ensuring the van and trays are clean, tidy and organised
  • Leaving the back yard clean and free of rubbish; pick up litter as you see it
  • Washing trays as part of the tray wash process
  • Loading the van and checking roadworthiness
  • Communicating with customers about changes to their order, substitutions or short items, and offering refunds where appropriate
  • Taking care of products/deliveries as if they were your own
  • Explaining to customers that substitutions will not incur additional charges
  • Delivering within the customer’s time slot
  • Calling the customer before arrival if early
  • Calling the store/centre if running 30 minutes or more late

You will need

  • Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and ensure the store is best for customers
  • Be warm and welcoming with customers and colleagues, taking time to understand the customer and say thank you
  • Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store
  • Be energetic and driven to exceed expectations while balancing home and work commitments
  • Share ideas with your Manager and colleagues on how to improve the store for customers
  • A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points
