Job summary

Sainsbury’s is seeking a Customer Assistant for night shifts to prepare the store for trading, stock shelves and move goods from warehouse to shopfloor. You’ll work across store areas, operate equipment, and support customers with a friendly, energetic approach.

The role requires resilience for night work, a commitment to teamwork, and adaptability to learn new digital tools while maintaining a clean, safe workspace. Training will cover checkout tasks when ready.

Responsibilities

• Getting the store ready for the day by filling shelves and working at a steady pace through the night
• Keeping workspace tidy and aisles presentable for customers
• Collecting and moving stock from warehouse to shopfloor, including heavy items
• Working across different parts of the store, including chilled and frozen areas
• Using equipment, handsets and digital systems to complete work accurately and safely
• Helping in other areas when needed, including online order picking or serving customers at checkouts when trained

What you’ll be doing

• Getting the store ready for the day ahead by filling shelves, working at a good steady pace throughout the night and being prepared to work with a variety of product types
• Keeping your workspace tidy for other colleagues and making sure our aisles are clean, presentable and ready for our customers the next day
• Collecting and moving stock safely from the warehouse to the shopfloor, including heavy equipment and containers
• Working across different parts of the store, which could include chilled and frozen areas
• Using equipment, handsets and digital systems to complete your work accurately and safely
• Helping in other areas when needed, which could include picking online orders or serving customers at checkouts once you're trained and confident
