Job summary

Sainsbury's is hiring a Customer Assistant for night shifts in the UK. You will help prepare the store by stocking shelves, moving stock from the warehouse to the shopfloor, and keeping areas tidy.

The role may involve working across different store zones, including chilled and frozen sections, using handsets and digital tools to complete tasks accurately. This position requires a customer‑focused attitude, energy for night work, and flexibility to support colleagues and cover various duties,

Responsibilities

• Fill shelves and stock overnight, ensuring store ready for opening.
• Keep workspace tidy and ensure aisles are clean and presentable.
• Move stock from warehouse to shopfloor, including heavy items.
• Work across store areas including chilled and frozen sections.
• Use handsets and digital systems to complete tasks accurately.
• Assist in other areas as needed, including online order picking and checkout when trained.

What you’ll be doing

• Getting the store ready for the day ahead by filling shelves, working at a good steady pace throughout the night and being prepared to work with a variety of product types
• Keeping your workspace tidy for other colleagues and making sure our aisles are clean, presentable and ready for our customers the next day
• Collecting and moving stock safely from the warehouse to the shopfloor, including heavy equipment and containers
• Working across different parts of the store, which could include chilled and frozen areas
• Using equipment, handsets and digital systems to complete your work accurately and safely
• Helping in other areas when needed, which could include picking online orders or serving customers at checkouts once you’re trained and confident
