Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services is hiring for a Custody Detention Officer to support police custody suites and detainees across an assigned region. The role involves assisting with detainee care, observations, and coordination with police while maintaining safety and welfare standards.

Initial training is provided with full pay, followed by ongoing professional development and opportunities for career progression within Mitie’s custody operations.

Qualifications

• Previous Police/Security/forces experience would be beneficial
• You will just need a reasonable level of spoken and written English and basic numeracy
• Competent in IT and using a computer.
• Full valid driving licence.
• Must have RTW in UK, Lived in UK British Passport or ILR for 3 years + no gaps out of country more than 3 months
• All candidates are subject to police vetting checks - clean driving/criminal record is essential

Responsibilities

• The custody suites can be an energetic place to work, with no two shifts the same.
• You will be working in a small team alongside Police Officers and Senior Custody Detention Officers to learn and perform duties.
• Escort detainees, make recorded observations, and support rehabilitation efforts in collaboration with the Police.
