Overview

In Social Justice, Catch22 works with young people and adults in custody and in the community, providing offender management, resettlement, mentoring, veterans in custody, victim services, gangs work and youth justice. The aim is to change service users’ ideology, helping them desist from crime and reach their potential.

In HMP Thameside, Catch22 provides Offender Management services and support for adult male prisoners from entry to their transition back into community life. Further information on the OMU service is available via the organisation’s website.

Role overview

This is a full-time prison/office based role. There is the option for compressed hours on a 4 day week, or 9 day fortnight if deemed appropriate. This is not a hybrid/remote role. The opportunity is to work for the Offender Management Unit (OMU) at HMP Thameside, the only OMU in the country delivered by a third sector organisation since its opening in 2012. Following a prison inspection, HM Chief Inspector of Prisons described this service as the best provision seen in the last year.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage a caseload and collaborate with other agencies.
  • Work effectively in high-pressured environments and remain resilient to change.
  • Ensure accurate recording of work and deadlines are met.
Qualifications

Knowledge and skills:

  • Understanding or awareness of the factors that contribute to offending behaviour.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation.
  • Understanding of professional boundaries when working with vulnerable people.

  • Ability to work well in high pressured environments and be resilient to change.
  • Attention to detail particularly relating to recording of work and meeting of deadlines.

Additional information

Screening: Successful admission to post subject to enhanced DBS check, HMPPS vetting check, and Right To Work in the UK. The post-holder must have the right to work in the UK. Catch22 does not currently provide a licence to sponsor visas.

Contract: Permanent

Hours & work pattern: Full time, 38 hours per week.

Salary: £31,582.00
