Custodial Operations Manager

Band 5: Permanent, Full Time

£35,795 - £44,344 per annum DOE + Corporate Benefits Package

Serco is recruiting Custodial Operations Managers to lead staff and oversee the safe, secure, and humane management of prisoners at HMP Fosse Way, Category C resettlement prison in Leicester housing around 1,700 prisoners. This key leadership role ensures that daily operations, security, and rehabilitation activities run efficiently and in line with national standards and Serco's values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and manage custodial staff to deliver a safe and rehabilitative environment.
  • Oversee prisoner accommodation, key working, and regime delivery to ensure positive staff-prisoner relationships.
  • Maintain compliance with all security, safety, and operational policies (including ACCT, Violence Reduction, and Local Security Strategy).
  • Manage key operational areas such as the Residential Function, Care & Separation Unit, Visits, Security, and Reception.
  • Monitor performance metrics and contribute to contract KPIs and service improvements.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews, manage attendance and disciplinary matters, and promote professional development.
What You'll Need
  • Minimum 2 years' custodial experience with prior line management responsibility.
  • Completion of mandatory custodial training (Key Worker, Five-Minute Intervention, PCO Portfolio).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and prisoner rehabilitation.
  • Computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook).
