A leading service provider is seeking a Custodial Manager for HMP Thameside in London. This role involves managing staff and ensuring safety and security for prisoners. Candidates need to be trained Prison Custody Officers with strong commitment to learning and line management skills. We're recruiting for a Custodial Manager to join our Justice & Immigration team at HMP Thameside, a Category B establishment for adult males, with safety and security at the heart of it.

As a designated CM you can be assigned to any role within the prison – what will never change is your commitment, enthusiasm and support of our prisoners through positivity and engagement.
You will line manage your team with a collaborative approach and promote Serco and the policy in all activities and behaviours by promoting diversity, decency, safety and reducing re‑offending agendas.
A challenging, demanding varied role reporting into the Senior Custodial Manager and some of your duties will include:
First and foremost, you will need to be qualified as a trained Prison Custody Officer and you will have attended and passed a previous CM Assessment Centre, either fully or partially. Those who have been partially accredited must be able to evidence a clear development plan outlining what key elements they need to improve based on the feedback and results from the CM Assessment Centre.
In addition, you must be able to clearly demonstrate evidence of a commitment to learning, whether on the job (i.e. projects, secondments, volunteering to lead work outside your role) and/or formal learning.
A critical accountability in this role is the line management of people to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and confidence to carry out their roles. You will embody the principles of dignity, decency and security, demonstrating these actively to colleagues, prisoners and all of our stakeholders.
