Job description
Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Curriculum Leader for PSHE to lead and champion high-quality Personal, Social, Health and Economic education across Noel-Baker Academy. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a core subject while influencing teaching and learning across the academy. You will provide both the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of our PSHE curriculum, ensuring it is ambitious, inclusive, age-appropriate and fully compliant with statutory requirements, including RSHE. You will shape a curriculum that is clearly articulated, coherently sequenced and consistently translated into excellent classroom practice. A central aspect of the role is ensuring that PSHE makes a meaningful contribution to pupils' personal development, wellbeing and safeguarding. You will work closely with senior leaders, pastoral teams, safeguarding leads and external partners to ensure that our provision responds to pupils' needs and reflects the local context. This includes areas such as mental health, online safety, healthy relationships, consent, equality and diversity, and preparation for adulthood. You will lead curriculum planning, resource development and assessment within PSHE, supporting staff to deliver sensitive and complex content with confidence, professionalism and care. You will provide guidance and training where needed, recognising that PSHE is delivered by a wide range of colleagues and requires consistent expectations and high-quality support. You will play an active role in whole-school quality assurance and improvement planning, using pupil voice, curriculum review, staff feedback and impact evaluation to inform development. You will ensure that outcomes in PSHE are defined not simply by compliance but by pupils' knowledge, understanding, attitudes and behaviours. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure that PSHE is fully aligned with our safeguarding, behaviour, attendance and personal development priorities and that it holds a visible and valued place within the wider curriculum.

What We Are Looking For
  • Demonstrate a secure understanding of statutory PSHE and RSHE requirements and how these translate into an effective, inclusive and well-sequenced curriculum.
  • Be able to articulate what excellent PSHE looks like in practice and how it contributes to pupils' personal development and wellbeing.
  • Have the confidence to lead PSHE across the school, supporting colleagues to deliver sensitive content appropriately, consistently and safely.
  • Understand the importance of creating a safe learning environment and balancing clear expectations with professional judgement.
  • Use a range of evidence, including pupil voice, curriculum evaluation and engagement data, to assess impact and drive improvement.
  • Recognise the importance of adapting provision to meet the needs of different cohorts, including vulnerable pupils and those with SEND.
  • Build positive professional relationships and work collaboratively with pastoral and safeguarding teams.
  • Demonstrate integrity, emotional intelligence and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Why Join Noel-Baker Academy?
  • Shape provision that supports safeguarding, promotes positive relationships and helps pupils navigate the challenges of adolescence and adulthood.
  • Make a direct and meaningful impact on pupils' confidence, safety and readiness for life beyond school.
  • Join a supportive, collaborative and values-driven staff team where professional dialogue, development and shared responsibility are genuinely valued.
  • Work in a school where personal development is given the same strategic importance as academic achievement.
  • Benefit from strong leadership development opportunities, working closely with senior leaders and contributing to whole-school culture and ethos.
