Job summary

Myerscough College in Preston seeks a passionate Curriculum Area Manager for Agriculture to lead and develop our Agriculture provision across FE, HE and Apprenticeships, driving an innovative and industry-relevant curriculum.

You will provide strategic and operational leadership, act as an industry ambassador, collaborate with employers and academics, and shape the future workforce while embedding safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

We are seeking an ambitious, passionate and inspirational individual to join our College as Curriculum Area Manager - Agriculture.

In this pivotal role, you will support the Principal, Director of Farms and Directors of Curriculum in ensuring Myerscough College is a national leader in the delivery of specialist agricultural education. You will lead and develop our Agriculture provision across Further Education, Higher Education and Apprenticeships. You will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring our curriculum remains innovative, industry-relevant and focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for learners and employers. As our curriculum lead for agriculture, you will act as an ambassador for the College and the agricultural industry - locally, regionally and nationally.

Myerscough College has been committed to supporting UK agriculture since 1894 and takes this responsibility seriously. In this role you will drive forward emerging curriculum in crucial areas such as UK Food Security, Agri-food and Agroforestry, whilst balancing sustainability, biodiversity, water, soil and carbon.

Responsibilities include:

• Working collaboratively with the Principal, Director of Curriculum, Director of Farms and Innovation, employers and industry partners to develop a curriculum that meets current and future sector needs.
• Leading and supporting curriculum teams to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, driving achievement, progression and positive student and apprentice destinations.
• Managing curriculum planning, timetabling, staffing, resources and budgets, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the department.
• Driving continuous quality improvement through the effective use of performance data, quality assurance processes, self-assessment and action planning.
• Developing strong relationships with employers, awarding organisations, industry bodies and external stakeholders to enhance the reputation and growth of the Agriculture provision.
• Supporting student and apprentice recruitment, retention, achievement and progression through an engaging curriculum offer and an outstanding learner experience.
• Leading and developing curriculum staff through effective performance management, coaching and professional development.
• Act as an ambassador for the College and the agricultural industry, locally, regionally and nationally.
• Embedding safeguarding, sustainability, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the curriculum area.
