Job description

Applications are welcome from HCPC registered Radiographers to join our Radiography team to undertake a full range of CT scans for both in-patients and out-patients. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an innovative Health Board to help increase your clinical experience and advance your career pathway.

You will be expected to provide clinical excellence and assist in managing the day to day organisation of the clinical area providing effective and efficient leadership.

The department consists of 2 Canon Aquilion One Prisms CT Scanner providing a 24 hour service, 7 days a week.

The department hosts undergraduate radiography students on placement from Cardiff University so you will be expected to be involved in their training and supervision, whilst supporting the wider team. All candidates must be enthusiastic about teaching and supporting learners in the clinical environment.

Good communication and team player skills are essential. You will also be expected to demonstrate evidence of commitment to CPD and to participate in CPD sessions both online and practically.

Following an appropriate induction period, participation in the 24 hour shift system will be expected along with rotation to any other CT departments within the Health Board if required as per service requirements.

This post is fixed term until 20 July 2026 to cover service needs.

Main duties of the job

The duties of this post includes,

  • To supervise, co-ordinate and participate in the provision of the Radiology CT service.
  • To participate in the CT service shift rota as required.
  • To be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality images in an efficient, professional and caring manner.
  • To support the Radiology CT Lead in the delivery of the service.
  • To have and maintain an in depth knowledge of current radiographic techniques and equipment.
  • To carry out intravenous cannulations and injections as required by the department after the appropriate training.
  • To communicate effectively with patients and all grades of staff to give technical and professional advice as required.
  • To make an ongoing contribution to the education of others and demonstrate a teaching and advisory role to qualified colleagues.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
