Overview
CSWIP 3.2 SENIOR WELD INSPECTOR
You will play a key role as part of the Quality Department in checking/monitoring in-house fabrications and sub-assemblies going through the manufacturing process against the relevant documented specification.
Role Description
- Inspect both the work produced in primarily the fabrication shop and occasionally in other departments of the company.
- The ideal candidate will have an advanced knowledge and experience of Fabrication / Welding (within Energy sector advantageous).
- Evaluate and interpret reports from various non-destructive testing methods.
- Knowledge of welding procedures, welder approvals, and various welding defects.
- Understanding of steel metallurgy is required.
- Must be able to work to, and ensure compliance with, complex specifications and standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical fabrication drawings.
- Maintaining product traceability and compliance to required standards. Produce inspection reports for products clearly highlighting any potential / actual non-conformances (Good IT skills with Excel and Word).
- Be highly motivated, flexible, responsive to change and calm under pressure.
- You will encourage positive, open discussion on any deficiencies, safety and quality specifications, making recommendations to improve processes and methods where identified.

Qualifications & Skills
- Experience working in both manufacturing and off-site environments.
- RWC (Responsible Weld Coordinator) would need or gain via TWI Interview.
- CSWIP 3.2 minimum.
- Experience working within a lead/supervisory role.
- Trained on all aspects of welding equipment.
- Knowledge of ASME, BS Standards.
- Accuracy & Discretion.
- Ability to Read Technical Drawings.
- Teamwork & Motivation.
- Computer Skills (MS Office).
- Please note: those not qualified to CSWIP 3.2 need not apply.
Daily Functions
- Basic duties on a daily/weekly basis, expanding to meet company requirements as they arise.
- Creating Project documentation, Welding, NDT Documentation, data logging, etc.
- Management of Welding Qualifications.
- Generating new Welding Techniques.
- Conduct Internal Audits of welders and procedures.
- Perform visual inspection on welded products and structures in progress and completed jobs.
- Perform Dimensional Checks and Weld Setups.
- Ensure welders adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Ensure welders are working within the range of WPS.
- Ensure quality documents are recorded correctly and kept up to date.
- Identify material specifications and maintain traceability.
- Assist with completion of technical specification packs.
- Responsible for final quality inspections and sign-off approvals.
- Attend on-site installation projects to assist with inspection duties when required.
Benefits
The above position offers a basic 38-hour week (early finish on a Friday), salary dependent on experience, 23 days annual holiday allowance, excluding Bank Holidays plus birthday leave, wellbeing day, and Christmas Eve; contributory pension scheme, life assurance and occupational health screening.
