CBRE Group, Inc. is recruiting a Critical Services Supervisor to join our London team. You will lead a high‑performing engineering team responsible for the integrity, resilience and uptime of critical infrastructure within a mission‑critical environment.

You will oversee HV/LV systems, UPS, generators, switchgear and BMS, while directing fault response, root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives. Strong leadership and contractor management are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Recognized electrical engineering qualification such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3.
  • Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Experience leading engineering teams in mission-critical environments.
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors and vendors.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior engineering lead on shift, providing technical direction and support to engineers and contractors.
  • Maintain the continuous operation of all critical electrical infrastructure, ensuring maximum resilience and uptime.
  • Oversee operation, monitoring and maintenance of HV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear and BMS.
  • Lead response during faults, alarms, outages and abnormal operating conditions.
  • Mentor, coach and develop engineers and apprentices.
  • Ensure all critical maintenance activities comply with site procedures and client standards.
  • Promote a zero-harm safety culture and manage RAMS, permits to work and method statements.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Critical Services Supervisor to join a high-performing engineering team supporting a prestigious Global Account.

Operating within a mission‑critical environment, the successful candidate will lead a team of engineers and specialist contractors responsible for maintaining the integrity, resilience, and availability of critical infrastructure. This role is ideal for an ambitious technical professional looking to progress into Engineering Management or Critical Facilities Management.

The position requires strong technical expertise across electrical systems, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage risk in environments where uptime, safety, and operational excellence are paramount.

Please Note: shift pattern is a Continental Shift Pattern - 4 days on, 6 days off, 4 nights on, 4 off, 3 days on, 3 nights on, 4 days off (07.00-19.00 - 19.00-07.00).

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Operations
  • Act as the senior engineering lead on shift, providing technical direction and support to engineers and contractors.
  • Maintain the continuous operation of all critical electrical infrastructure, ensuring maximum resilience and uptime.
  • Oversee operation, monitoring and maintenance of:
    • HV/LV electrical distribution systems
    • UPS systems and batteries
    • Standby generators and fuel systems
    • Switchgear and transformers
    • Static transfer switches
    • Power monitoring systems
    • Building Management Systems (BMS)
    • Electrical protection systems
    • Emergency lighting and life safety systems
  • Lead response activities during faults, alarms, outages and abnormal operating conditions.
  • Perform technical investigations and root cause analysis following incidents, near misses and equipment failures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, energy efficiency and operational performance.
  • Ensure all critical maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site procedures and client standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise shift engineers and technical support personnel.
  • Coordinate daily workloads, maintenance activities and resource allocation across the engineering team.
  • Conduct shift handovers and ensure accurate communication of critical operational information.
  • Mentor, coach and develop engineers, apprentices and future supervisory talent.
  • Review performance, training requirements and competency levels within the team.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and succession planning initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, innovation and continuous improvement.
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Ensure all PPM activities are completed on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Review maintenance reports, identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Validate service reports and ensure all statutory and compliance requirements are met.
  • Drive condition-based maintenance strategies where appropriate.
  • Monitor asset health and support lifecycle replacement planning

Critical Environment Management
  • Take ownership of critical operational procedures and emergency response protocols.
  • Support and lead critical switching operations and planned shutdown activities.
  • Review and approve RAMS, permits to work and method statements.
  • Ensure strict adherence to change management processes.
  • Manage high-risk activities including:
    • Electrical isolation
    • Energized works
    • Confined space operations
    • Work at height
    • Contractor management
  • Participate in incident management and business continuity exercises.
  • Support client audits and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure service delivery consistently meets contractual KPIs and SLAs.
Compliance, Health & Safety
  • Promote a zero-harm culture across the account.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Health & Safety legislation
    • Electrical safety regulations
    • Client operating procedures
    • Company management systems
    • Environmental and sustainability requirements
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all operational documentation remains accurate and up to date.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive engineering excellence through innovation and best practice.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, energy optimisation and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Support implementation of new technologies and digital solutions.
  • Champion reliability-centred maintenance initiatives.
  • Participate in account-wide projects focused on critical infrastructure enhancement.
Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Recognized electrical engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND or equivalent).
  • Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Strong operational experience within critical environments such as:
    • Data Centres
    • Financial Services
    • Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
    • Life Sciences
    • Telecommunications
    • Technology Campuses
    • Mission Critical Facilities
  • Previous experience leading engineering teams or operating as a Shift Supervisor, Lead Engineer or Engineering Supervisor.
  • Proven knowledge of critical electrical systems and infrastructure.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and specialist vendors.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of permit‑to‑work and safe systems of work.
Desirable
  • HV Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person experience.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualification.
  • AP15/Operational Authorised Person status.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with Schneider, ABB, Siemens or similar critical power infrastructure.
  • Exposure to hyperscale or enterprise data centre environments.
