Critical Care Outreach Sister/Charge Nurse (XR07)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Critical Care Outreach Team as a Senior Sister / Charge Nurse. The post holder will be experienced in the field of Critical Care, experience working as part of the Critical Care Outreach Team is desirable.

The successful candidate will be allocated to take charge of shifts, where they will coordinate the safe running of the team and workload.

This includes cross site working, lone working and providing ongoing support and leadership to junior Critical Care Outreach team members.

The successful candidate will provide advanced clinical assessment of the deteriorating adult patient in a variety of clinical areas throughout the Trust, deliver education to ward-based teams on the recognition and management of the deteriorating adult patient and support the Deputy Matron and Deteriorating Patient Lead to implement Trust wide quality improvement initiatives.

Main duties of the job

The role provides extensive clinical advice, education and support to wardbased multi-disciplinary teams across a variety of clinical areas throughout the trust.

The post holder will work as an accountable, autonomous practitioner to provide comprehensive advanced assessment and care of the deteriorating / acutely ill adult patient leading to early intervention and treatment.

The post holder will work in partnership with the Allied Healthcare Professionals Team to initiate appropriate care to prevent further physiological deterioration, identifying and referring those patients who require admission to critical care.

The post holder will act as a clinical role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice. Multi-disciplinary team liaison, education and training in the care and management of the deteriorating / acutely ill adult will be key responsibilities.

Job responsibilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (Level 1).
  • Evidence of theoretical, educational and clinical development related to the field of critical care.
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification.
  • National Outreach Framework Enhanced Competencies achieved or in progress.
  • Educated to postgraduate degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced Life Support provider.
  • Post registration certificate in advanced practice.
Experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development in clinical practice within the last 12 months.
  • Significant Critical Care experience at sister/charge nurse level.
  • Working with a wide range of professionals including medical, nursing and management colleagues.
  • Insight into current issues in nursing / professional issues.
