Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to take on a Charge Nurse role within the Critical Care service at the Institute of Neurological Sciences. You will provide clinical leadership, coordinate day-to-day ward operations and develop nursing teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care on a rotating 12-hour shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Post-registration qualification in Critical Care, Leadership or related specialty.
• Relevant or significant experience in Critical Care/ HDU or equivalent.
• Proven leadership, clinical decision-making and team management in a busy healthcare setting.
• Commitment to CPD and maintaining clinical knowledge and skills.
• Experience supporting quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits or service development.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for safe, patient-centred outcomes.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff as a role model and expert advisor.
• Deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse and manage ward operations when required.
• Supervise and mentor registered nurses, support workers and students.
• Maintain standards, ensuring compliance with local policies and guidelines.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and clinical audits to enhance outcomes.
• Manage resources including staffing, equipment and workload to support service delivery.
