Job summary

University of Sussex in Brighton is seeking a Research Assistant to support an active programme investigating how chromatin regulates genome integrity and DNA repair fidelity after genome editing. You will generate high-quality data and help maintain shared reagents and engineered cell lines across the group.

The role offers training in CRISPR/Cas9 and genome editing techniques, Western blotting, imaging, and data analysis, with collaboration across projects in a supportive laboratory

Qualifications

• We are looking for a motivated and collaborative researcher with hands-on genome editing experience.
• Experience with CRISPR/Cas systems, DNA cloning, and mammalian cell transfection is essential.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage records and inventories.

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular and cell biology techniques and generate high-quality data.
• Maintain shared reagents, cell lines, and laboratory resources.
• Troubleshoot experiments and contribute to development of new lab capabilities.
• Prepare protocols, reports, and presentations for collaboration.
