Job description
Overview

The post holder will be based within North Lincolnshire supporting the operational oversight of Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Services (CRHT). CRHT provide specialist assessment for individuals referred into services for urgent mental health care on a 24/7 basis. The team offers initial screening and clinical triage to determine individuals' presentation and how best to support their mental health. Short term home treatment is offered to minimise risks and prevent hospital admission, allowing additional support to achieve recovery from crisis to home. The team is comprised of a range of healthcare professionals including a consultant, nursing team, occupational therapist, psychology, support recovery workers and non-medical prescribers. CRHT also supports Haven House, a four bedded crisis bed unit used as an alternative to admission into hospital when safe and appropriate.

Responsibilities
  • To provide support to the service manager to meet the aims and objectives of the service, including deputising and delegated responsibilities.
  • To support the service manager in the effective day to day management of the team within the resources available and agreed governance frameworks.
  • To attend relevant MDT meetings and represent the Trust from a Mental Health perspective.
  • To undertake investigations in line with organisational policy (e.g. complaints, incidents, Serious Incidents, Structured Judgement Reviews, HR investigations).
  • To identify and address poor performance in line with organisational policy.
  • To alert the Service Manager to any concerns about the team's effectiveness or that of any team members in a timely manner.
  • To review staffing levels and skill mix as necessary.
  • To lead, mentor and support staff on a daily basis and provide management/clinical supervision to staff under line management.
  • To monitor team performance, ensure waiting times and Key Performance Indicators are adhered to, and escalate issues to the service manager when needed.
  • To work within infection control agendas to improve standards and to improve environments for patients.
  • To work with patients and their carer/relative to address concerns by building closer relationships.
  • To promote partnership working with patients, carers and stakeholders.
Qualifications and experience
  • Essential: Registered Mental Health Nurse.
  • Essential: Experience of working with people with Severe and Enduring Mental Health problems and in a Community Mental Health setting.
  • Essential: Experience of auditing service effectiveness and producing high quality written reports for senior management.
  • Essential: Experience of resolving difficulties with colleagues and other mental health professionals and developing effective networks and partnerships (clinical leadership).
  • Essential: ENB 998 or other NMC approved mentor qualification or mentor qualification appropriate to discipline.
  • Desirable: Management or leadership qualification and/or training.
