Job summary

St Mary’s College invites applications for an Instructor of Criminology (Maternity Cover) to join our ambitious Sixth Form team. You will teach KS5 Criminology (WJEC Level 3) and support students in crime, justice and society topics.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons, monitor progress, and collaborate with colleagues to refine curriculum and assessment preparation. A passion for post-16 education and strong subject knowledge are essential for high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Key Stage 5.
• Proven track record of securing positive student outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of Criminology, Law, Sociology or Psychology.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging teaching across the WJEC Level 3 Criminology specification at Key Stage 5.
• Inspire students through relevant application of criminological theory to crime and society.
• Monitor student progress closely and support intervention strategies.
• Collaborate with colleagues to refine curriculum planning, resources and delivery.
• Prepare students for controlled assessment and external examinations.
• Maintain high expectations for engagement, independent study and progress.
• Support students in career progression related to criminology and related fields.
• Contribute to the wider life and culture of the Sixth Form and its outcomes.
