Job summary

A law firm in the UK is seeking an ambitious Duty Solicitor to join their Crime Department. The role involves managing a caseload of criminal law cases, assisting in complex matters, and advocating in court. Qualifications

  • 2 years' PQE preferred; applicants with less experience will be considered.
  • Proven experience in managing criminal law caseloads.
  • Understanding of office targets, budgets, and billing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your own criminal law caseload.
  • Assist the Head of Department on complex matters.
  • Advocate in court on a wide variety of cases.
  • Prepare cases for Crown Court.
  • Represent clients at police stations.
  • Act as a Duty Solicitor.
  • Work outside office hours when required.
  • Travel between offices, courts, and police stations as needed.

Proficiency in IT
Professional, polite and patient manner
Ability to meet office targets, budgets and billing requirements
Sound knowledge of Criminal Law
Understanding of Law Society requirements for private practice
