Overview

Our clients multi site business comprises businesses, high net worth individuals, and associations across a broad spectrum of industries guiding, supporting, defending and protecting their clients through a wide range of key legal services. Due to a period of continued growth they are looking to recruit an accomplished and experienced lawyer to join their crime and regulatory team based in Manchester.

The crime and regulatory team work mainly for insurers representing regulated professionals, SME’s and public sector organisations in a range of disputes.

Qualifications
  • To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate experience in one or more of the following areas of crime and regulatory law: Professional discipline, experience of healthcare regulation is an advantage.
  • Police disciplinary investigations
  • Health, safety, environmental and licencing
  • Ofsted and CQC registration and enforcement
  • Business crime and criminal investigations involving regulated professionals
  • Inquests and public inquiries
Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop relationships with internal Markel stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of legal expense insurance and liability insurance funded matters.
  • Be able to manage your own busy case load – including recommending reserves and setting strategies.
  • Deliver billing and other key performance indicators.
  • Be able to establish, develop and maintain corporate and individual client relationships – both internally and externally.
  • Be able to supervise junior staff on smaller files and delegate tasks to junior colleagues / administrative support staff where necessary and appropriate.
  • Work within an established team of 7 lawyers, 2 paralegals, a trainee solicitor and administrative support.
  • Provide both contentious and non-contentious legal advice representing businesses and individuals in an insured and uninsured capacity.
  • Be able to consider and advise upon insurance policy coverage issues where necessary.
