A leading funeral service provider in the UK is looking for a compassionate Crematorium Assistant to join their team at Grenoside Crematorium. The role involves providing hospitality services, supporting chapel duties, and maintaining grounds. The position offers flexible hours with a minimum of 16 hours per week, and training for food hygiene certification will be provided.

  • Greet customers warmly and take orders.
  • Handle customer concerns to provide a positive dining experience.
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks.
  • Assemble light meals, snacks, or sandwiches.
  • Process payments and manage change correctly.
  • Maintain the crematorium grounds and ensure cleanliness.
  • Follow hygiene regulations and health & safety requirements.
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of food items.

Position: Crematorium Assistant
Location: Grenoside Crematorium, Grenoside, Sheffield
Job Type: Part-Time, Permanent – 16 hours minimum per week
Salary: £10,483.20 per annum
Flexible to work additional hours as required, and every other Saturday 9am – 4pm.

Role Overview

Are you compassionate, customer-focused, and passionate about supporting families during difficult times? We are seeking a Crematorium Assistant to join our team at Grenoside Crematorium. This versatile role will consist of providing hospitality service in our grounds Café, supporting with chapel duties and occasional grounds maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support chapel services, including setting up seating, audio/visual equipment, and greeting families.
  • Greet customers warmly and take orders.
  • Handle customer concerns and provide a positive dining experience.
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks (coffee, tea, juices, etc).
  • Assemble light meals, snacks, pastries, or sandwiches.
  • Process payments, issue receipts, and manage change correctly.
  • Maintain the crematorium grounds and memorial areas, ensuring they are clean and well‑presented.
  • Follow hygiene regulations and health and safety requirements, ensuring correct PPE is worn.
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of food items.
