Description

Our client a leading asset financier for whom we have sourced over 50 staff in the UK, Ireland & in Germany and to board level are seeking two hire additional Credit Underwriters to join their team focused on the financing of hard assets across the verticals of:

  • Manufacturing
  • Agriculture
  • Construction
  • Recycling

Working as part of the local credit team, you will use your strong financial acumen to ensure accurate and timely approvals of credit applications, ensuring the team's SLAs are met and ultimately that our client provide a high quality service to its customers.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Underwrite business propositions and undertake credit assessments, ensuring credit risk standards, procedures and authorities are met, that broader transaction risks are identified, evaluated and mitigated.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of a range of product types – e.g., Regulated and non-regulated Hire Purchase, Finance and Operating Lease, Stocking facilities, etc.
  • Assess asset values and depreciation, with an awareness of market appetites and with reference to 3rd party valuers, internet comparisons, known sector guides – e.g., CAP – auction sites, dealers, and their own and others’ personal knowledge and experience.
  • Verify broader group credit limits as appropriate and thereby ensuring correct use of mandated authority.
  • Demonstrate a proactive and positive approach to supporting the Sales, Operations and Collections functions.
  • Ensure credit queues are well managed and SLAs and KPIs met.
  • Undertake site/customer visits, as required, along with trade shows, to ensure awareness of ongoing trends and developments within the various sectors the role supports.
Candidate Profile

To apply for the position you need to be able to work from our clients offices in Chester for 3 days the week, the remaining 2 days a week you can work from home.

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in credit underwriting, preferred is within the asset finance sector.

Knowledge of the asset classes of manufacturing, agriculture, construction and recycling would be useful but are not a pre-requisites to apply.

Any hard asset underwriting background will be considered.

If you hold a direct underwriting mandate today this will be seen as an advantage as in the role, depending on the level of your hire you can expect to hold a personal mandate of between £250,000 and £500,000.

You’ll be highly numerate, with excellent critical thinking skills and will possess the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues both in person and remotely.

Salary will range from £50,000 to £65,000 dependent on hire level plus excellent benefits.
