Job description

Brook Green Supply (BGS) is a leading independent B2B energy supplier, delivering tailored energy supply and Net-Zero solutions to industrial and commercial consumers. As part of the Credit Risk team within the Commercial department, the Senior Credit Risk Analyst will combine senior credit risk assessment with ownership of credit risk portfolio monitoring and operations. The role will assess and manage counterparty credit risk arising from physical power and gas supply, including complex exposures, collateral arrangements, credit insurance and contractual risk. You will work with internal account managers, account management coordinators, the trading desk and external parties including clients, TPIs, credit rating agencies, credit insurers and brokers. This role is the risk intelligence layer that informs and supports credit control activity, not a replacement for it. You will maintain portfolio surveillance, exposure trackers, watchlists and early-warning indicators so emerging risks are identified early and credit decisions remain current as markets and sectors evolve. The role suits an analytical and commercially aware credit risk professional who can combine financial analysis, market awareness, clear stakeholder communication and disciplined operational control.

Essential Functions of the Job: Credit risk and assessment
  • Lead credit assessments for high-value or complex counterparties, including group structures, special purpose vehicles and large portfolios.
  • Complete accurate credit assessments using quantitative and qualitative data, submit credit insurance requests and undertake periodic credit limit reviews.
  • Monitor and update credit exposures arising from physical power and gas supply contracts, including insured and uninsured positions.
  • Develop, maintain and improve credit policy, approval processes and reporting frameworks.
  • Manage aggregate insurance cover levels in line with policy parameters.
  • Communicate credit decisions clearly to internal stakeholders, providing relevant feedback and requesting information for reassessment where needed.
  • Identify credit risk mitigation options, including third-party guarantees, bank guarantees, letters of credit, security deposits and escrow accounts.
  • Act as a senior point of liaison for complex credit queries and bespoke credit solutions.
  • Monitor delivery, updates and renewals for alternative collateral facilities.
  • Review credit decisions relating to renewals, site additions and payment term amendments.
  • Review and support credit aspects of energy trading documentation, including EFET Master Agreements, GTMAs, MNAs and CSAs.
Credit risk portfolio monitoring and operations
  • Maintain exposure trackers across the counterparty portfolio, including credit limits, utilisation, insured and uninsured positions and collateral held.
  • Flag breaches, near-limit positions and deteriorating credit profiles promptly.
  • Monitor CreditSafe and other credit reference agency alerts, triaging rating downgrades, CCJs, insolvency filings and other adverse events.
  • Maintain a live counterparty watchlist and early-warning indicator framework, recommending mitigating actions such as limit reductions, additional collateral or insurance notifications.
  • Track sector and macroeconomic developments across key customer industries and translate them into portfolio-level risk views.
  • Respond to market and commercial changes, including wholesale price movements, sector shocks and material contract or ownership changes, by reassessing exposure, insurance cover and credit stance.
  • Produce sector briefing notes, macro updates and portfolio risk summaries for the trading desk, commercial teams and senior management.
  • Maintain and refine credit risk MI and dashboards for exposure, limit utilisation, insurance cover, watchlist status and sector risk.
  • Act as the credit risk point of liaison with Credit Control, ensuring collections and account-management activity is informed by current risk intelligence.
  • Mine, aggregate and validate data to produce accurate reporting in line with team and business requirements.
  • At least two years' experience in a credit risk role within energy, utilities or commodities.
Cross-functional improvement
  • Coordinate collaboration between Credit Risk, Credit Control, Trading, Finance and Commercial teams.
  • Gather stakeholder feedback and develop tools that improve visibility of credit and portfolio risk information.
  • Lead initiatives to automate and streamline credit risk monitoring processes, including data pipelines, alert triage, tracker maintenance, reporting and workflow tools.
  • Mine, aggregate and validate data to produce accurate reporting in line with team and business requirements.
  • Working knowledge of the electricity and/or gas industry.
  • Experience monitoring a credit portfolio, including use of credit reference agency tools such as CreditSafe, Experian or Dun & Bradstreet.
  • Experience maintaining exposure trackers, watchlists, credit MI or similar portfolio monitoring tools.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to read financial data and perform financial analysis.
  • Comfortable tracking sector, macroeconomic and energy market developments and translating them into portfolio risk implications.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and Power Query. SQL capability is strongly preferred.
  • Power BI or similar dashboarding experience, with the ability to produce concise, management-ready reporting.
  • Familiarity with credit insurer portals such as Allianz Trade, Atradius or Coface is desirable.
  • Experience with Python, Power Automate, Alteryx or similar automation tools is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and extract key credit-relevant terms from EFET, GTMA, MNA and CSA documentation is desirable.
  • Confident using CRM, billing and back-office systems to pull account, contract and exposure data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain portfolio risk findings to trading, commercial and senior stakeholders.
  • Self-starting, intellectually curious and able to manage a varied workload across credit assessment and portfolio surveillance with reduced supervision.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with high attention to detail and sound judgement.
  • Brook Green Supply is committed to ensuring equal opportunities, fairness of treatment, dignity and respect, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination in the workplace for all employees/contractors and job applicants.
