Job summary

HSBC Innovation Banking is seeking an experienced Credit Officer to lead lending execution and portfolio management for VC-backed innovation companies in the UK. The role sits in our London home office with hybrid working between home and the office.

You will assess risk, supervise loan approvals and support escalation of complex credits, partnering with RM and PM leaders to drive growth while maintaining prudent risk controls.

Qualifications

• Experienced credit practitioner with venture & growth experience.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Strong knowledge of credit policies, risk ratings and loan documentation.
• Proven ability to lead due diligence, underwriting and documentation processes.
• Ability to manage multiple deal processes and portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Manage credit risk for loan portfolio and new lending opportunities.
• Review and approve credit memoranda, risk ratings and terms.
• Lead or participate in due diligence, structuring, underwriting and documentation.
• Mentor RM/PM staff in underwriting, portfolio management and negotiations.
• Coordinate with Relationship Management and Portfolio Management on strategy and risk appetite.
• Participate in risk, product and lending strategy initiatives and committees.
