Credit Controller – 6-Month Fixed Term Contract Location: Outskirts of Colchester (Hybrid Working). At Rutherford Briant, we’re supporting a respected and long-standing organisation on the outskirts of Colchester, known for its collaborative culture and strong focus on financial discipline. They are seeking a Credit Controller on a 6-month fixed-term contract to support the team through a busy period, ensuring timely cash collection and maintaining excellent relationships across their customer base.

As a Credit Controller, you will:

  • Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring prompt collection of outstanding invoices
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients to resolve queries and prevent overdue debt
  • Liaise closely with internal departments to ensure accurate billing and smooth cashflow processes
  • Monitor aged debt, prepare debtor reports, and highlight key risks or trends to management
  • Support month-end processes including reconciliations and cash allocation
  • Assist with process improvements and contribute to a positive team culture

As a Credit Controller, you will need:

  • Previous experience in credit control or a similar accounts receivable role
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with a customer-first approach
  • A proactive and organised mindset, able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Good Excel and ERP system skills (experience with SAP, Oracle, or similar is advantageous)
  • A collaborative attitude, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team
