We are seeking an experienced Credit Control Manager to lead and enhance our credit management and collections function within a high‑volume, low‑value transaction environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for safeguarding the company’s cash flow, reducing aged debt, and implementing best‑in‑class credit control practices while maintaining strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and customers.

This is a pivotal role where you will play a key part in enhancing and automating credit management processes, streamlining workflows, and ensuring all credit activities are delivered to the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and professionalism.

Position

Job Title: Credit Control Manager

Location: Witham, Essex (with some travel to other Simarco sites, including Stoke on Trent)

Salary: Market leading

Hours: Monday to Friday - 9am to 5.30pm

N.B. As this role does not offer sponsorship or relocation assistance, candidates MUST hold the correct Right to Work documentation to be considered.

Key duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective credit policies aligned with company risk appetite and business goals.
  • Oversee the timely collection of receivables, ensuring strong performance across a large customer portfolio.
  • Manage and mentor a small, multi‑site team of credit controllers, promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct thorough credit assessments, set appropriate credit limits, and support commercial teams in balancing risk and opportunity.
  • Lead dispute resolution and billing queries in coordination with Finance and Operations.
  • Produce regular reports and analysis on debtors, cash flow, and key metrics (DSO, overdue debt, bad debt, etc.).
  • Champion process improvement and automation initiatives, leveraging ERP, CRM, or credit management tools to enhance efficiency.
Requirements

We’re seeking a confident and commercially minded credit professional with strong leadership experience and a proven record of improving cash flow and debtor performance.

  • 10–15 years’ progressive experience in credit control, with at least 3–5 years in a management role where you get the best from your team!
  • Proven success in high‑volume, low‑quantum environments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and Excel reporting abilities.
  • Hands‑on leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Experience within the logistics or transport industry is advantageous.
  • Please note: This role requires travel to other Simarco sites (including Stoke‑on‑Trent) and involves managing a small team across multiple locations. Flexibility and availability are essential.
