Credit and Political Risk Senior Underwriter

The Role

Allianz Trade, Specialty Credit (SC) is seeking a Credit and Political Risk Senior Underwriter to join our dynamic team in London. This role is ideal for individuals with extensive experience in the London Credit and Political Risk Insurance (CPRI) market or relevant banking experience. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced and rewarding culture and is eager to contribute to our growing operations.

Main Tasks
  • Originate, negotiate, and execute CPRI transactions by liaising with brokers and clients.
  • Select opportunities based on Allianz Trade / SC underwriting criteria and manage the commercial underwriting process in coordination with our credit analyst team.
  • Support the SC Regional Head in strengthening and developing SC in the London market, including the introduction of new products and new clients.
  • Drive meaningful growth, long-term quality, and profitability for the portfolio.
  • Represent Allianz Trade / SC in all relevant external meetings, conferences, and events both in London and abroad.
Experience Required
  • Minimum of 5-8+ years of relevant experience in the Credit and Political Risk Insurance market and / or banking sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit insurance mechanisms and banking products.
  • Strong understanding of a broad range of products, including bank transactions / loans and trade-related financings for corporates.
  • Experience in underwriting complex structured products such as Project Finance, Real Estate, Capital Call Facilities, Aviation Finance, etc.
  • Experience in underwriting sovereign transactions and undertaking sovereign reviews.
  • Ability to negotiate high-profile transactions, including pricing, with a strong working knowledge of market wordings.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, along with efficient work practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Capability to train and coach more junior underwriters based on experience and knowledge.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
