We have partnered with a leading credit manager looking to hire a Credit Analyst for its CLO platform.
The role focuses on fundamental credit research across leveraged loans, with responsibility for owning coverage, evaluating investment opportunities and making recommendations to portfolio managers. The successful candidate will combine strong technical analysis with independent investment judgment, taking a credit from initial research through to a clear, actionable recommendation.
This is an opportunity for an investment-minded analyst to take meaningful ownership of their coverage and contribute directly to investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of credit coverage, conducting fundamental research on leveraged loan issuers across a range of sectors.
- Assess business models, financial performance and capital structures to evaluate credit quality and downside risk.
- Build and maintain financial models to analyse cash flow generation, leverage and debt servicing capacity.
- Develop independent investment recommendations, clearly explaining the supporting analysis, downside risks and developments that would prompt a reassessment.
- Monitor covered issuers and relevant market developments, identifying changes to credit fundamentals and updating investment views as new information emerges.
- Present and discuss credit views with portfolio managers and the wider investment team, explaining and defending the assumptions, analysis and judgments underpinning recommendations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Relevant credit research experience with exposure to leveraged loans, ideally gained within a CLO manager, asset manager or other buy-side credit team.
- Candidates from sell-side credit research, leveraged loan desks and other relevant credit backgrounds will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong technical skills and the ability to form actionable investment views.
- Demonstrable ability to take ownership of credit coverage, progress analysis independently and reach clear recommendations with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Strong financial modelling, financial statement analysis and credit assessment skills, with numerical fluency and a detailed understanding of the assumptions and calculations underpinning the analysis.
- Ability to discuss previous credits, models and investment recommendations in depth, clearly explaining personal contributions, the reasoning behind each call and how the investment view developed.
- Ability to assess businesses across different sectors and identify the key drivers of credit risk. No particular sector specialism is required.
A driven, proactive approach and an investor mindset, with the confidence to form and defend an independent view, take responsibility for recommendations and reassess conclusions as the evidence changes.
