Job summary

Pearson Edexcel seeks a Credible Specialist for GCSE Physics based in Suffolk (Ipswich). The role is ad-hoc, approx. 2 days per month during the academic year, supporting centres with GCSE Science and A Level qualifications.

The successful candidate will provide expert guidance, create resources for the Pearson title, and engage with teacher groups; travel to events or training may be required within the Suffolk area.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience teaching/assessing Pearson Edexcel GCSE Science and/or A Level in their title science specialism.
• Active practitioner in their subject area.
• Be prepared to travel to events or training activities within the given location to support GCSE/A Level delivery.

• Guide new and existing centres through GCSE Science and A Level qualifications.
• Create teaching and learning resources in their title specialism for Pearson's website as required.
• Attend stakeholder meetings/events and run online/twilight events for GCSE and A Level.
• Provide subject expertise and market information to inform future developments and materials.
• Advise on training materials, resources and admin at senior team meetings.
• Engage with teacher groups on social media and represent Pearson Edexcel to answer queries.
• Serve as a role model for outstanding pedagogy in their endorsed title.

Credible Specialist for GCSE Physics (1PH0) - Suffolk (Ipswich)

Pearson Edexcel is looking to recruit for a credible specialist in GCSE Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and associated A Level science qualifications. Credible specialists are employed on an ad-hoc basis as required (approx. 2 days per month) over the academic year to support our customers.

This application is for candidates based in Suffolk (Ipswich)

Responsibilities

• Centre visits/Zoom/telephone support to guide new and existing centres through the GCSE Science and A Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics qualifications and support materials.
• Providing guidance and support to centres on their specific endorsed title. Creating teaching and learning resources in their title specialism for the Pearson website as required Attending stakeholder meetings/events as appropriate.
• Providing subject expertise and market information back to the product team and subject advisor to inform future developments and support materials.
• Attend meetings with the senior team to advise on training materials, support, resources and any other relevant administration. Running online/network/twilight events as appropriate for GCSE and A level.
• Engaging with teacher groups on social media (Facebook, Twitter etc.) and being the voice of Pearson Edexcel in helping to answer customer queries.
• Being a role model for outstanding pedagogy in their specific endorsed title.

Requirements

To be considered for this role applicants must have:

• 3+ years' experience of teaching and/or assessing Pearson Edexcel GCSE Science and/or A Level in their title science specialism and be an active practitioner in their subject area.
• Be able to represent Pearson Edexcel in a professional manner and offer advice which is in line with advice offered to all Pearson Edexcel centres.
• Be able to attend a training day with the chair of examiners to talk through the materials and the requirements for each of the Pearson Edexcel Specifications.
• Complete a Training for Pearson training course to ensure they are eligible to carry out training in schools Be prepared to travel to events or training activities within the given location to support with the delivery of GCSE and/or A level qualifications.
