Job summary

Framestore VR Studio in London is seeking a Creature FX Artist to design and execute dynamic simulations for character-based work, including clothing, hair, muscle and skin. You will develop rigs, deliver assets to Lighting, and collaborate with modelling, rigging, animation, lighting and grooming teams to meet ambitious schedules.

The role requires scripting or programming experience, strong rigging skills, a solid understanding of Houdini and Maya, and a good eye for anatomy.

Qualifications

• Programming or scripting experience.
• Modelling and rigging skills and experience.
• Good understanding of Houdini and Maya constraints and deformers.
• Experience working under a Unix/Linux system environment.
• Possesses a good eye, able to apply reference material to simulations.
• Good understanding of human and animal anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Create simulation rigs for characters and creatures.
• Execute shots using simulation rigs and deliver finished assets to Lighting.
• Collaborate with Modelling, Rigging, Animation, Lighting and Groom teams.
• Contribute to development of departmental tools and techniques.
• Meet schedules and deadlines while maintaining high standards.
• Present work for review and implement feedback promptly.
• Maintain ongoing communication with production and leads on schedules.
• Stay updated with new tools, software, data and related tech.
• Work in a team or independently to complete assigned shots.
