Job summary

Clarence Recruitment Limited seeks an enthusiastic Art Teacher to join a welcoming school in Rugby. You will teach Art to Key Stage 3 and 4, plan engaging lessons, and support pupils in developing portfolios while contributing to a positive department culture.

The role may suit an experienced teacher or early career teacher with strong subject knowledge and a passion for the arts. Start date ASAP and a daily rate of 179–255 to reflect experience.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification is required.
• Strong degree in Art or related discipline.
• Ability to plan and deliver high-quality lessons promoting creativity, independence and measurable progress.
• Confident classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Inclusive approach with ability to adapt teaching for diverse needs.
• Strong organisation, communication and teamwork skills.
• Clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver inspiring, well-structured Art lessons for pupils with varying starting points and abilities.
• Teach practical and theoretical aspects of Art using a range of materials, techniques and processes.
• Support pupils in developing sketchbooks, portfolios and sustained projects from research to final outcomes.
• Assess work, provide constructive feedback, and use progress information to adapt teaching.
• Prepare pupils for examinations and coursework where applicable.
• Create a safe, organised studio environment that encourages experimentation and risk-taking.
• Manage behaviour in line with school policy and maintain high participation and presentation standards.
• Contribute to curriculum development, displays, exhibitions and wider school events.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents/carers and pastoral teams to support pupil achievement and wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records and fulfil safeguarding and health and safety responsibilities.
