Overview

Creative Art and DT Technician

Permanent, Term Time, Full Time. Start Date: as soon as possible. Job ref: TECH 2025. Salary: Grade 3, Points 5-6 (Actual Salary £22,019). FTE £25,783 - £26,193. 37 hours per week, Term Time (38.6 weeks per year) plus 3 Professional Learning Days. Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 4:00pm. Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm with ½ hour unpaid lunch daily.

Responsibilities

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual who is keen to help students achieve the very best by helping teachers with their practical lessons. The role covers both Design & Technology and Creative Arts responsibilities:

  • Design & Technology:
    • Maintain high standards of Health and Safety and ensure the department facility adheres to department policies as well as Health and Safety standards; raise concerns to the Curriculum Leader.
    • Familiarise with CLEAPSS/COSHH/British Health and Safety Standards to maintain high Health & Safety standards in the department.
    • Keep all areas of preparation and storage clean; ensure equipment is retrieved and cleared away after lessons.
    • Maintain stock levels, check regularly, and operate within budget and health and safety standards.
    • Keep computer data (orders, service, inventories, and machinery information) up to date and assist the Curriculum Leader with the annual budget process.
    • Order new and replacement materials, equipment and machinery as appropriate and in a timely fashion.
    • Demonstrate good confidence and competence in ICT; provide support with installation of hardware and software where required.
  • Creative Arts:
    • Provide technical support for concerts, showcases, drama productions, including sound, lighting, and projection setup.
    • Work with students to provide technical support for GCSE/BTEC drama, dance and music assessments.
    • Record, edit, and submit student performances for assessments and examination boards.
    • Oversee timetables for peripatetic music lessons and coordinate communication between teachers, students, and parents.
    • Assist with the organisation of graded exams and preparing materials for music events.
    • Manage and maintain musical and recording equipment, including software and hardware installation.
