Job summary

Avenue Scotland is seeking a mobile Crane Operator in Greenock. The role involves lifting operations on-site at client shipyards and customer locations to support vessel repair, fabrication, and heavy engineering projects.

The ideal candidate holds a CPCS or NPORS card, has crane operating experience in marine/shipbuilding or related sectors, and possesses a valid UK driving licence. Overtime and weekend work may be required on occasion.

Qualifications

• Valid crane operator card (CPCS or NPORS) required.
• Experience operating cranes in marine, shipbuilding, construction or heavy industry environments.
• Good understanding of lifting operations and related legislation.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate cranes safely and efficiently on-site and off-site.
• Assist with preparation and completion of lift plans.
• Participate in pre-lift toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Conduct daily crane inspections and recording checks.
• Carry out routine crane maintenance and report defects.
• Inspect lifting equipment before use (shackles, chains, hooks, slings).
• Ensure inspections and certifications are up to date; report to QHSE.
• Work with permit-to-work systems and risk assessments.

Crane Operator | Greenock | £19.89 per hour + overtime

As a mobile Crane Operator, you will be responsible carrying out lifting operations on mobile cranes both within our clients shipyards and customer locations. You will support vessel repair and maintenance projects, fabrication and mechanical works, material handling activities, and contract lifting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating cranes safely and efficiently on-site and off-site.
• Assisting with the preparation and completion of lift plans.
• Participating in pre-lift toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Conducting daily crane inspections and recording checks.
• Carrying out routine crane maintenance and reporting defects.
• Inspecting lifting equipment, shackles, chains, hooks and slings before use.
• Ensuring statutory inspections and certifications remain current and reporting requirements to the QHSE team.
• Working in accordance with permit-to-work systems and risk assessments.

Essential:

• Valid crane operator card - CPCS or NPORS.
• Experience in a crane operating role within marine, shipbuilding, construction, engineering, heavy industry or a similar environment.
• Strong understanding of lifting operations and associated legislation.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work flexibly, including overtime and weekends when required.
