Job summary

Airbus S.A.S. at the Broughton site in North Wales invites motivated learners to join a 36-month apprenticeship. You will install aircraft systems, including electrics, hydraulics and fuel lines, and perform rigorous functional tests on live wing production projects.

You will rotate through wing production areas while pursuing Level 3 NVQ and BTEC qualifications with day-release study. Upon completion, you’ll become a skilled aircraft fitter specializing in wing assembly for Airbus aircraft,

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma (Aeronautical Engineering).
• Must work towards Advanced Manufacturing Engineering BTEC L3 Certificate.
• 36-month apprenticeship leading to aircraft fitter role.

Responsibilities

Job description

Year 2 and 3: Your Learning Takes Flight at Broughton! Building on your foundational knowledge, you'll join our world-class team at the Airbus Broughton site in North Wales. Here, you'll apply your skills directly to live aircraft projects and assist in manufacturing the wings for our Single Aisle and Wide body families, rotating through various equipping wing production areas to gain diverse experience. Your varied tasks will require a range of technical skills. This will include:

• Expertly installing complex aircraft systems, including hydraulic lines, electrical wiring harnesses, fuel pipes, and control cables. Working to engineer drawings to ensure components like valves, sensors, actuators, and electronic units are precisely fitted and secured.
• A critical part of the role is performing comprehensive functional tests (e.g., pressure tests for hydraulics/fuel, continuity/resistance checks for electrics) to verify system integrity and performance. They diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions, ensuring all installations comply with rigorous aerospace safety standards, technical specifications, and maintain detailed records of their work.

You’ll continue your academic studies on day release, working towards:

• Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma (Aeronautical Engineering)
• Advanced Manufacturing Engineering BTEC L3 Certificate

Upon successful completion of your 36-month apprenticeship, you'll become a skilled aircraft fitter, specialising in the installation of electrics, hydraulics and fuel systems to produce the wing on our world-class Airbus aircraft.
