Job summary

Atomic Weapons Establishment is seeking enthusiastic Craft Machinists to operate CNC lathes and milling machines, delivering high-precision components to meet strict specifications. You will work on cutting-edge equipment, maintain safety and quality standards, and mentor apprentices where needed.

The role requires an apprenticeship with NVQ Level 2, and candidates must be able to work on-site at RG30 3RP, between Reading and Basingstoke.

Qualifications

• Requires recognised apprenticeship and NVQ Level 2 minimum.
• Candidates should be able to operate a range of machine tools including CNC lathes and milling machines.
• Siemens programming experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver production of high precision components to meet customer specifications.
• Maintain safe operation of machine tools and related equipment.
• Maintain high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality; be a team player.
• Multi-task across multiple machine tools and manufacturing areas.
• Undertake root cause analysis for problem solving.
• Support and participate in continuous improvement activities.
• Mentor peers and apprentices as required by the business area.
