The successful applicant will operate under the guidance of senior teaching staff, stepping in to deliver pre-set, high-quality lessons and supervising whole classes. It's a role where consistency, high expectations, and a supportive presence are key to student achievement. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join a progressive academy in Leeds on a permanent basis, starting ASAP. This vital role is about maintaining the continuity and quality of education for students across Key Stages 3 and 4 during teacher absences.

Requirements
  • Proven experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

Responsibilities
  • Provide cover supervision for both the long and short-term absence of teachers.
  • Direct and supervise students to complete the work set, maintaining appropriate records for absent teachers.
  • Deliver high-quality cover lessons and bespoke small group or one-to-one interventions.
  • Actively uphold high expectations of all learners, committing to their full educational potential.
  • Establish a productive, respectful, and appropriate learning environment in all lessons.
  • Monitor and evaluate student responses to learning activities, providing feedback to the absent teacher.
  • Carry out invigilation of internal and external examinations, assisting students with specific needs.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom and encourage co-operative work.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the academy by attending relevant meetings and training.
  • Cover for Guardians (Form Tutors) when required, registering students and promoting their well-being and attendance.
