Job summary

A leading education recruitment agency seeks Cover Supervisors in Chesham. You will oversee pre-set lessons and ensure students remain on task while the main teacher is absent. Ideal candidates are flexible, have strong behaviour management skills, and can build rapport with students. A valid DBS check is required, along with either a degree or previous experience in a supervisory role. This role offers a daily pay of £120 and starts ASAP or from January 2026.

Cover supervisors are essential unqualified cover teachers who are able to take the responsibility of the full-time class teacher if the full-time class teacher is absent.

Academics is working with a fantastic secondary school in Amersham, Buckinghamshire.

The Cover Supervisor / Cover teacher role
  • Expected to oversee pre-set lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher. (no planning, marking)
  • Need to be able to quickly build rapport with students, have good behaviour management skills, and be willing to cover a range of subjects if necessary.
  • Not be required to deliver the lesson itself but you must ensure the pupils are on task and complete the work set by the teacher.
  • Need to manage behaviour in line with the school policy so you must be confident and have a strong, firm, but fair approach.
