A co-educational secondary special school is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to support teaching and learning across its three sites in Sheffield. The successful candidate will plan lessons and provide support for students with a range of complex needs. Requirements include meeting the Higher-Level Teaching Assistant Standards and demonstrating excellent communication skills. The role involves collaboration with staff and therapists to adapt to student needs. This is an opportunity to help young people achieve their full potential in an inclusive environment.
Whilst the main focus of this role will be the provision of cover for teachers for Annual Reviews and short‑term absences, the postholder will also support across the school to develop and deliver learning for pupils and assist with administrative tasks in class. The role requires access to all pathways across the school and the ability to work at all three school sites.
The school operates over three sites: Granville Road (S2), The Bridge (Talbot/Newfield campus – S8), and Peaks College, Waterthorpe Greenway (S20).
You should meet the Higher‑Level Teaching Assistant Standards or have the equivalent qualifications or experience. You must demonstrate excellent numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ level 2 in Maths and English, and be able to deal professionally with all school stakeholders.
Seven Hills School is a co‑educational secondary special school co‑located with a Catholic high school near the centre of the city, catering for pupils from 11 to 19 years of age. All pupils have learning difficulties, many with additional communication, sensory, physical or medical disabilities, and increasingly complex needs.

All class support staff are required to be proficient in Safe Moving and Handling techniques and Team Teach; full training will be provided as necessary.
A knowledge of Makaton, basic ICT skills and experience of working with students with disabilities, learning difficulties and communication difficulties would be an advantage, but professionals with a positive attitude committed to their own professional development will also be considered.
The curriculum is built on four foundations: Communication, Language and Literacy; Cognition and Learning; Social and Emotional; and Physical and Sensory. All foundations are closely connected and support each other.
The selection process involves shortlisting candidates through the matching of information from the application form and accompanying letter/statement to the person specification. The shortlisting panel are Safer Recruitment Trained.
