Job summary

Prospero Teaching seeks a Cover Supervisor for a secondary school in Southport to supervise classes when teachers are unavailable. Ideal candidates will have confidence in Mathematics and English, alongside excellent skills in managing a classroom. Responsibilities include delivering pre-set work and supporting school activities. A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.

  • Desirable experience working with young people.
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee students during lessons when teachers are unavailable.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment and ensure students stay on task.
  • Supervise students as they complete assigned work.
  • Complete records of attendance and report any incidents.

Prospero Teaching are looking to recruit an excellent Cover Supervisor to work within a fantastic secondary school in the Southport area!

The strongest applicant will have confidence in Mathematics, English and a subject of their choice whilst also working well with children.

  • Location – Southport, PR9
  • Contract type – Temporary
  • Pay: Paid to Scale
  • Hours – 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising Classes: Overseeing students during lessons when teachers are unavailable, ensuring they stay on task and maintain good behaviour.
  • Classroom Management: Maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring that students stay on task.
  • Delivering Pre-Set Work: Supervising students as they complete work left by the teacher. Ensure that the planned lessons are carried out.
  • Monitoring Progress: Ensuring students complete their assigned tasks and offering basic guidance or support when required.
  • Administrative Duties: Completing records of attendance, reporting any incidents, and liaising with school staff.
  • Supporting School Activities: Assisting with duties outside the classroom, such as lunch supervision or extra-curricular activities.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Teaching Assistant qualification or higher/equivalent (Desirable)
  • Previous experience working with young people.
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential as some training is provided)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional references.
