Qualifications

What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you someone who loves working with young people and making a difference in their learning journey? The Portsmouth Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our team on a fixed term basis. We require a proactive person to cover lessons and support students to help with their learning, whilst maintaining our high standards of behaviour. Your main purpose will be to deliver preset work in the absence of the teacher normally responsible for teaching a particular class, by utilising pre-prepared exercises. When no cover duties are required, you will undertake activities to assist teachers in the delivery of the curriculum.

Your role
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials in the absence of the classroom teacher
  • Support students with their learning by providing guidance and clarification on tasks
  • Supervise individuals or small groups of students adapting tasks where needed to meet learning objectives
  • Monitor and report pupil progress and behaviour to teaching staff and/or SENCO
  • Support the development of literacy and numeracy skills of pupils from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of classroom activities when cover duties are not required
