Cover Supervisor - Secondary School - Barking

Full Time | Term Time Only | October 2025 Start

Up to £140 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)

Long Term Futures are working with a well-established secondary school in Barking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to start in September 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for qualified teachers (QTS) seeking classroom continuity, or for graduates and aspiring educators looking to gain hands‑on experience before starting teacher training or their ECT year.

You'll be responsible for supervising whole classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students remain engaged, on‑task and supported in line with school expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver pre‑set lesson plans across a variety of subjects at KS3 and KS4
  • Manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and conduct
  • Ensure learning continues smoothly in the absence of regular teachers
  • Support pupils with queries and maintain a calm, structured classroom atmosphere
Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A degree or relevant subject background (QTS holders welcome)
  • Experience working with secondary students in an educational or tutoring setting
  • Strong classroom presence and confident behaviour management skills
  • An interest in teaching, education, or school‑based support roles
  • The ability to build rapport quickly and lead a class independently
