  • Ensuring students understand the work set by the absent teacher and remain on task.
  • Maintaining a calm, disciplined, and focused classroom environment.
  • Supporting students individually or in small groups as needed.
  • Managing student behaviour in accordance with school policies and ensuring a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Reporting on student progress, any incidents, or concerns during lessons to the appropriate department or staff member.
  • Assisting with administrative duties such as setting up classrooms or distributing materials.
  • Providing additional support to students during independent study sessions, where appropriate.
Requirements
  • Experience working with secondary school‑aged students (as a teaching assistant, in a supervisory role, or similar).
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain order in the classroom.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting students' learning.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and deal effectively with challenging situations.
