Job description
Overview

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About the role

You will support the Countryside Access and Recreation team in implementing its new, locality-based approach to the Powys Countryside Volunteer programme. Operating across all areas of Powys outside the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, you will help each locality area to build capacity to deliver practical work on public rights of way and in greenspace, giving our communities access to outdoor recreation and supporting nature recovery.

About you

You will be a practical person who is able to communicate well with and support other people in developing their skills. You will have a good understanding of how to carry out countryside practical tasks and be able to explain these to others in a clear and engaging way so that they can carry out a work day independently and safely. You will enjoy being outdoors in all weather and physically able to access remote sites on foot, carrying materials and equipment to support delivery of practical tasks.

What you will do

You will work independently and under the direction of the Countryside Volunteer Co-ordinator, to support each of the 13 'Sustainable Powys' localities to develop their capacity to deliver practical work tasks without direct officer supervision. This will include all aspects of a task day, from pre-work preparation through to carrying out the task and then completing returns of information to the Countryside Access and Recreation team. The role will be predominantly outdoor site based.
