Overview

We are currently looking for a Counter Sales Assistant to join our team at Talbot Timber Merchants. This is a hands‑on role where you will be at the heart of the action – helping customers, handling products, and keeping everything running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent face‑to‑face and telephone customer service.
• Assist customers with sales, enquiries, and product advice.
• Process transactions accurately for both account and cash sales.
• Keep shelves replenished and stock well presented.
• Pick and prepare orders for collection or delivery.
• Help unload supplier vehicles and check goods received.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and housekeeping.
• Assist with stock control, including regular stock takes.
• Support merchandising and store layout when required.

Qualifications

• Friendly, helpful, and customer‑focused.

• Positive attitude and commitment to great customer service.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Good attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Working Hours

Average of 40.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, plus every other Saturday morning from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm.
