Job Title: Counselling Psychologist

Hours: Part time or full time

Contract: Permanent

Location: North West

Salary: Up to £65,000 (dependent on experience)

bMindful Psychology are currently recruiting a Counselling Psychologist to support our clients in the North West region.

Job Summary

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering therapeutic interventions and psychological support to children and young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, or instability. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, foster carers, and educators, you will contribute to creating a safe and nurturing environment for young people to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions to children and young people in care or at risk of entering care.
  • Deliver therapeutic support tailored to individual needs.
  • Offer consultation and guidance to foster carers, residential staff, and professionals on managing challenging behaviours and promoting emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop care plans that support psychological resilience and recovery.
  • Contribute to training and workshops for professionals to enhance understanding of trauma, attachment, and mental health.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for care planning and statutory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Registered with the appropriate professional body as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Experienced in working with children and young people, particularly those who have experienced trauma or are in care.
  • Knowledgeable about trauma-informed approaches, attachment theory, and child development.
  • Skilled in delivering therapeutic interventions for complex emotional and behavioural needs.
  • An effective communicator who can build trusting relationships with children, families, and professionals.
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
