Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm

3 to 6 month ongoing contract

£27.39 p/hr umbrella

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Revenues Officer to join the council. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accurate and efficient collection of council tax, business rates, and other revenues to support essential local services.

You will be responsible for administering accounts, processing changes, and dealing with customer queries in a professional and timely manner. A strong sense of integrity, accuracy, and the ability to work independently are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update council tax and/or business rates accounts
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Process payments, refunds, and account amendments
  • Liaise with residents, businesses, and external agencies to resolve queries
  • Apply discounts, exemptions, and reliefs in line with legislation
  • Support recovery procedures for outstanding payments
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal procedures
About You:
  • Previous experience in a revenues, council tax, or housing benefits.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a high workload and meet deadlines
  • Experience working in a council or housing
  • IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office and revenues systems (e.g. Civica, Northgate)
