Harkaye Core Talent Ltd is seeking an experienced Costs Draftsperson for a South Manchester role, hybrid working, to join a respected law firm's Costs Team and handle high-value Clinical Negligence matters.

You will draft Bills of Costs and Budgets, negotiate costs, instruct counsel when needed, and manage budgets. This is a strong opportunity with training and clear progression in an employee-owned business.

Formación

• 3+ years drafting Bills of Costs and Costs Budgets in civil litigation.
• Experience preparing Electronic Bills for Clinical Negligence matters.
• Understanding costs recovery and budgeting processes.
• Excellent organisation; ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; professional and collaborative approach.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare high-value Clinical Negligence Bills of Costs, including Precedent S Bills, using CostsMaster.
• Draft and manage high-value Precedent H Costs Budgets.
• Assess costs recoverability, negotiate settlements, advise clients on prospects of success.
• Undertake pre-CCMC preparation, budget negotiations and ongoing management.
• Instruct Counsel and relevant experts as required.
• Prepare Solicitor/Own Client bills and related documentation.
• Monitor progress of costs claims and provide updates to fee earners and clients.

Our client is a well-established and growing law firm seeking an experienced Costs Lawyer or Costs Draftsperson to join their specialist Costs Team. Reporting directly to the Head of Department, this is an excellent opportunity for a motivated costs professional to take on a varied and high-quality caseload within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling a broad range of Clinical Negligence costs matters, including drafting, budgeting, negotiations, and client advisory work.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing high-value Clinical Negligence Bills of Costs, including Precedent S Electronic Bills, using CostsMaster.
• Drafting and managing high-value Precedent H Costs Budgets.
• Assessing costs recoverability, negotiating settlements, and advising clients on prospects of success.
• Undertaking pre-CCMC preparation, conducting budget negotiations, and advising on ongoing budget management.
• Instructing Counsel and relevant experts where required.
• Preparing Solicitor/Own Client bills and related documentation.
• Monitoring the progress of costs claims and providing regular updates to fee earners and clients.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years' experience drafting Bills of Costs and Costs Budgets within a civil litigation environment.
• Previous experience preparing Electronic Bills for Clinical Negligence matters.
• Strong understanding of costs recovery and budgeting processes.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• A professional, proactive and collaborative approach to work.
